Although the focus of our camp is to help children that have lost a loved who served in the U.S. Military, the healing that occurs here extends beyond the kids. It lovingly spills into the lives of their family members and we’re so thankful it works this way! We wanted to share the impact that camp has made in the life of our camper, Larson, and his mother, Krista.
As a parent, I was so
CONSUMED in my own GRIEF.
Camp Hometown Heroes opened my eyes to the fact that my son, Larson, is going through his own pain. Camp Hometown Heroes allowed his grieving process to begin and that has extended far beyond the annual camp.
Camp has POSITIVELY CHANGED how we communicate about losing Jake.
Although the weeklong camp is for the kids,
Camp Hometown Heroes has given both of us a SAFE COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE that have become FAMILY
and I am so grateful for that.
Camp Hometown Heroes was fun but it also
FELT GOOD to be around other people who have been through something like this.
Camp is a safe place. I really like the people I met there and have great memories and made
Thank you to everyone who supports our camp! You are helping to give hope beyond all-consuming-grief, to families like Krista and Larson’s across the country.
